Blue Mountains was one of the first trips I’ve done in Australia after arriving in Sydney. It’s an amazing destination for a day tour or a weekend trip from Sydney.
The World Heritage region of the Blue Mountains is an Australian highlight for its natural beauty.
How to get there
You can either take a train from Central Station to Katoomba or drive directly to the beautiful Blue Mountains. The drive from Sydney to Katoomba is just 90 minutes and trains regularly depart from Central Station (the trip takes around 2h40min).
My first time there was a day trip, so I’ve took the train from Central Station and I stopped in Katoomba Station, after that I took a public bus to the Blue Mountains National Park. It took less than 15 minutes.
I recommend you to drive if you can or rent a car! You will save time and you can visit more places.
When you arrive in the Blue Mountains National Park, you can easily spot the famous Three Sisters with a short walk. It’s a family friend walk and the access is very easy. It’s a beautiful view!
For this first trip, we planned to walk through the National Park, see the waterfalls and also check out the Scenic World. The Scenic World is a great place to see stunning views of the Blue Mountains!
There are plenty of things to do in Blue Mountains, but for a first day trip, you can check the Katoomba town, Blue Mountains National Park, the Three Sisters and Scenic World. It’s a bit far to walk from the Three Sisters to the Scenic World, so if walk is not your thing, you can either take a transport or drive to the Scenic World.
There’s a cafe and some activities as well as Scenic Railway and Scenic Cableway.
Happy Travels 🙂
